Auto Insurance Coverage Is Something You Must Have
Ah yes, car insurance- it's something that you have to get in North Dakota. You don't want to pay for it every month, but you have to. Come to think of it there really isn't any reason not to have it. Now most of the time it's something that hopefully you will not have to use too much but it usually comes in handy just in case.
Like many people, their first priority is to try and buy the bare minimum. Some states only require liability insurance, which only covers you when you're at fault. Whether you're in Alabama , where the minimum requirements are $20,000 of bodily injury liability for one person and $40,000 for all people or in South Carolina where you aren't required by law to have liability at all, you still need some level of insurance.
Now it's obvious that this is not what you want to hear, but when your cell phone rings and you decide to pick it up- bad decision-because now you've rammed your 2009 Altima into my 1999 Ford Explorer with over 200,000 miles on it, there is no way for you to pay for the damages to your vehicle and mine but out of pocket, ouch. Not only that, but there quickly follows the large fines for having no insurance, have your drivers license suspended and/or have your car impounded.
Unfortunately, the states that require the minimum coverage may still not be enough in the case of an accident. As the legally responsible driver you could still end up paying additional expenses out of pocket. Now this may all sound like bad news but there is a silver lining. Maybe not your shade of silver but the good news is by insuring your car you have saved yourself time but more importantly money.
Your car is an investment and you should want to keep your investment by the peace of mind you get when having insurance. Besides, you should really want to protect yourself from uninsured or under-insured motorist. No one said that just because someone hit you and you had insurance that the other driver had insurance as well.
Instead of dreading the responsibility of paying for auto insurance coverage every month even though you don't use it, you should be enjoying the peace of mind. Who would not want to protect their retirement funds, stocks, bonds and various other investments. Those are all of the things that could be affected if you were in an accident and had no auto insurance coverage.
So, there are more reasons to think of than none as to why you should have auto insurance coverage. If the idea of spending thousands of dollars on a vehicle other than your own for damages doesn't inspire you than nothing will. In any event, if you have stopped complaining then start shopping for insurance and make sure you get at least 3 quotes before even thinking of making a final decision. Good Luck.
